The check shown below was written in 1861 and signed by W. C. McClure, cashier, on a remainder check from the bank of Memphis which changed to the Bank of Chattanooga in Memphis in 1859. The check was used as a bank transfer to move funds to the Mechanics and Traders Bank of Memphis.
